best tents for wild camping image
Q. I'm going on a hiking trip in the Arges region of Romania. I've heard completely mixed opinions of it, some people forbid wild camping because of the bears, others advise ridiculous safetey precautions like keeping food up a tree etc, whilst others say you'll never see one the whole time you're there. Some help would be greatly appreciated.
I'll be using trails etc

Answer
If you use the standard bear precautions for camping in bear country you should be ok.
The primary rule is: Do not keep food in your tent!
Suspending your food from a tree or a line out of a bear's reach (preferably a line because bears can climb trees) is a good practice. Learned that one when I was a Boy Scout camping in bear country!
It won't seem like a "ridiculous precaution" if you find your tent ripped to shreds and your gear scattered all over the place by a bear that smelled your food (or dirty dishes) and got into your supplies for a free meal!
The people who say "You'll never see one" probably mean "THEY never saw one"...
They are not the same thing!
If they say "You'll never see one" but are not campers themselves, they are just talking through their hat!

I'm considering moving to Phoenix, & am very into outdoor activities, especially camping. How's the camping?
California
I enjoy both tent camping & pop-up trailer camping. Any infor would be appreciated. Thanks.
Answer
Yes, there are lots of opportunities for outdoor recreation in Arizona. Unfortunately, the Grand Canyon State's wild character is being compromised by runaway growth. Too many acres of desert are being bulldozed to make room for cookie-cutter McMansion subdivisions, and there is not enough water to sustain the people that are already here. People from more affluent parts of the country (like California) are trying to price me out. I've lived in Arizona my entire life, and I think that it's great so many people love it here, but something really needs to be done limit the growth. People are loving Arizona to death.
