My friends and i want to go somewhere not too far away from Los Angeles that will be fairly cheap. We want to go somewhere with snow but only have regular tents. There are about 12 of us going. Also it needs to be somewhere where there are not too many other people because we tend to be very loud and want to do our own thing. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Wanting snow and getting it in so cal is not very likely. Best places it may happen all together and still be accessible with privacy and be cheap are fewer still. The higher the altitude the more likely the snow, if weather permits. So you will be looking at the Big bear district of the San bernardino national forest and the back country behind Fawnskin or Heart bar. These area's have hike in or 4wd destinations that you can get away from the crowds at and possibly get a good winter snow campsite.
