Just need one night on a weekend in early May. Preferably tents and not cabins. And as cheap as possible.

Well, Oakbrook Terrace is in Dupage County, about 18 miles west of the Chicago Loop. It is about a 30-50 minute drive depending on traffic. The Dupage County Forest Preserves are really well maintained and there is camping about 6-8 miles from Oakbrook terrace in Warrenville.

If you want an uncrowded and unspoilt place try Illinois Beach State Park. It's beautiful.
