I want to camp either on a beach or somewhere that has an ocean view from the tent site. I live in New York, so anywhere on the east coast would be great. Any ideas?
I live in upstate NY and I want to stay at a tent site that has a view of the ocean, or even a site on the beach if thats possible. I'm just going for the weekend and was really hoping to find something in Cape Cod.

Answer
Out on Long Island all the way out by Montauk there are campsites right on the beach in Hither Hills Park. Also look into the Otis Pike Fire Island High Dune WIlderness, Probably one of the most remote shore campsites in NY.

What action will you take in the following situations?

1-You're in the middle of the ocean without food and water and you're on a boat without an engine and paddles.....

2-You're a 7 year old and you're shopping with your parents. You get lost...

3-You're in a plane going to a country in South East Asia.Your plane crashes but miracoulously you manage to survive without any wounds. The problem is your on an island without your cellphone, food and water. All you have is a bag with a first aid kit,a piece of cloth and a mirror.

4-You're 12 years old.Your mother always tells you to do things. While you're doing one of your tasks, she gives you more tasks to do.

5-Your friend is saying bad things about your other friend.
6-Suppose you asked this question...where will you categorize it?

Answer
1) Truly I would panic. Then, when I have come to my senses, I would realize that I can probably survive off of body fat for long enough to get found, float to something, or think of a new idea. Salt water would not be the best thing, but you can drink it in a pinch. Also, you can attempt to "gather" You did not tell me where I was, but it is bound to rain or dew sometime (hopefully soon). I wear glasses, so I would use them to try and make a glinting on the surface of the water. Fish like shiny things, in a pinch I would eat raw fish, and if I am desperate I would learn to catch them quickly. But in all honesty I would probably panic and cling to the boat seeing as I cannot swim.

2) Being seven, I actually remember when I was seven (and how mature I was- had to grow up fast) I would go into a store and tell a clerk my situation and ask to be taken to the lost and found for children or ask them to get my mom. My mom and I had a security word set up, so I would be okay (hopefully).

3) Once again, I would panic. But, this is South East Asia, I have been to Asia and hopefully I would think of a way to use that to my advantage. I used to be in a camping club, we had a survival retreat every summer (get lost in the woods for a week with nothing but the clothes on our back, a "tent" and a lighter. I would use the techniques I learned from that to determine what local foods are edible. Local plant life deamed not to be poisonous can be an excelent source of water. I would also use the mirror to light a fire. The cloth can be used for a controlled smoke signal, and the fire would be a way to cook food, to purify water (when I find it :P), and a source of warmth. First aid kits also usually come with standard medications, so if I get the runs from the food, I have something to take. Hopefully my smoke signal would have attracted someone. Since many Asian languages are based off of eachother, I would try to use this to my advantage. I can write and speak some Chinese, so I would try to communicate using English (primary), Chinese- both spoken and writen (secondary), and "cave man" (body language) as a last resort. Yet, if I am going to this country, knowing myself, I have already studied some of the language and customs, so hopefully I am well enough prepared and the country is closeby. But really, as in with #1, I would panic.

4) Once again, had to grow up fast, this was happening to me atabout age seven... But, unlike age seven, I was growing tired of it by age 12 (and am really sick of it at age 21). So I would probably shake out a "yes, mother..." and then think nasty comebacks in my head. I would, naturally, procrastinate a bit, but would eventually do what I was told.

5) If one of my friends was saying bad things about another friend of mine (which has come up), I would ask them why they think such things. Perhaps the friend has a good reason to say these things. I would listen, I am a very good listener, and try to help her through the situation and see if I can rectify any problems. If nothing can be done to fix the situation, I would just have to tell my friend (which has happened) that I am friends with the both of them, and would like to keep it that way, I would say "If my friends cannot tollerate my other friends and will not allow me to have the friendships, then they are not true friends, and I don't need them." It is really as simple as that. I am starting to realize who my true friends are right about now by just who tries to keep in touch with everyone else now that we are in our third year apart at separat colleges. I also have some sorority sisters who are not fond of some of my male friends. Everyone can be nice and get along, or just go away.

6) After some thought I have found a few places wher you could have put this question
-Social Sciences, since it delves into a person's psyche it would be find to put it under Psychology
-Friends, due to question 5
-Travel, due to the 2 "travel" questions
-Society & Culture, it can go under etiquette for the friends question or can easily be classified as culture since people of different cultures may answer this differently.
-I myself, would have classified this under psychology.

Nice questions, that was fun!
