I'm thinking trying to see if I can have a short holiday in America but I'm only 17, I want to be as cheap as possible...
So I have some questions-
1. Where is the best place to vist in America? (I'd love to see New York but I think that's just too expensive...) But I want to see something interesting!
2. What kind of place should I stay in? (I mean hotel, hostel, do they have campsites..?) What sort of prices are all of these?
3. How much money(ish) would I need per day? How much would this vary from place to place...
4. How long is the shortest time I could (should) go for to keep costs low and still have a good time and see things?
I'm thinking of going with my mum.. it's my 18th birthday this summer, so she said a while back that if she could afford it that me and her could go to Paris for the weekend, or somewhere else if I could make up some of the difference...
In costs, I won't be spending money on alcohol or anything, since I'd be going with my mum..

Whilst I really liked the West Coast, I'd recommend that you go somewhere on the East Coast for the sole reason that as you're trying to budget the air fare will be a lot cheaper. If you want to see something interesting but at the same time restrict costs, I'd suggest going to a city as it means there will be things to see but you won't havethe expense of travelling around.
Staying in hostels will cut down costs and I've found that hostels in the US are on the whole quite good. If you do go to a city I really wouldn't recommend camping (they do have campsites over there by the way) - would you feel safe pitching a tent in the middle of London? Hostels will also usually have a kitchen and so you can cut down your spending by cooking your own food.
As for where you should go, New York is brilliant but is also fairly expensive (well, for America it is). Maybe you could look at places such as Boston or Washington DC which will still have plenty to see and do without the expense of New York. It's impossible to say how much you'd need a day, but I'd say £40 minimum even if you're working off a very low budget. I'd recommend looking for air fares in January as most of the major airlines have sales on at that time of year so you might be able to get a good deal.
Time-wise, you'd probably want to go for at least 4 days (essentially a long weekend). It's a long journey there and if you stay for any less time you'll be too knackered to enjoy it.

I found out on another question that you can camp overnight and get centre court tickets, but I am coming from abroad so i cant bring a tent on the plane and don't want to be ripped off for bag on ryanair.
I heard that you can buy these tickets on ticketmaster the night before. Is this true? If so i would love if someone could explain it properly like tell me when they go on sale and how much they cost. Is it really hard to get them? Please help people i really want to go to Wimbledon!
