I don't want to spend a fortune in case he hates it - just want to buy a good quality 4 person tent. I have seen tyhe one on a car website which looks good but has terrible reviews!!! Want to know what you guys recommend!!!

Coleman and Ozark trail make some good tents that won't break the bank. Remeber the first trip may not go as great as you are expecting so don't give up with just one time. I was ready to never take my 4 year old with me again after his first trip when he was 2, However after many more trips now i hate leaving him behind. You could also look into renting a camper for you first go at it. Remeber to take any "favorites" such as a blanket or stuffed animal. Hope you and your son have a great time making unforgetable memories.

What is an ideal tent for 2 people?

The thing is we're looking for an ideal tent to go camping.
The criteria:
-I'm quite big (6.06 feet)
-we would like to fit a 2 person mattress in it
-we'd like to have enough space to fit in our luggage (two big bags)
-our budget is around 150$

It seems that most tents are either not long enough (my feet are coming out of the tent if I lie down) or it is too much of a tunnel (meaning our heads will touch the tent if we use the mattress for comfort).

Most tents I've found so far are 4 person tents which are reaaally expensive or have some flaws like it might rain inside if there's a bit of wind.
