Is it legal to camp in New Zealand for free or do the local authorities place restriction on who can settle where?

It really depends on where you are camping.

For National parks there are huts/cabins you can book in advance for a fee. You can also pitch a tent in certain areas. If you are really out the wilderness and it's not a National park you will be fine.

Q. So.. I'm a 22 year old going back packing with a friend and Brazil is the place we shall be visiting after africa, egypt, china, japan, thailand, australia, nz, canada, usa etc.

I need to find out loads of things like:


Is it safe to go back packing in Brazil?
Where are the safest/ cheapest places to stay while in Brazil?
Is it safe and legal for me to set up a tent/camp anywhere in Brazil?
What really are the best things I must do while in Brazil? jungle, rivers, etc ?
What parts of Brazil should I enter, and what parts should I NOT ?
Do I need to apply for a visa before I enter Brazil ? If not, how long does the visiting visa last for ?
Is it legal for me to find work there if I need more money? If so, is it easy to find work ?
What's the fastest & cheapest way to get around Brazil ? bikes, buses, fly, boats, trains ?
How dangerous will it be for me to travel deep into the amazon alone for weeks?

SO MANY questions here, and more.. that I really need answering, so far no one is able to help me :(

I can say you that this cities is so safe. Except Sao Paulo because the drugs gangs, but you can walk in downtown without problems. I don't commend you small cities and Bahia too.

When you go to Brazil, I commend you find a hotel in your city and early (to save money and time). Hotels in touristic streets is more expensive, In downtown streets is calm, fine and inexpensive.But if you prefer set up a tent/camp, you need rent a field or farm. And it isn't safe and expensive.

Brazil have many places to visit. Modern cities, Amazing mall, Perfect touristic points, Jungles. Beaches, Rivers, Mountains. Rio de Janeiro have every it.

You need a visa to enter in Brazil. But It is so easy, you need visit a Brazilian Consulate two months before your travel.

Rio de Janeiro have subway, train, hovercraft, bus and taxi. But you can use a bike too. But the best is a car.
Sao Paulo you need a car or Helicopter (so expensive).The Sao Paulo subway is so crowded.

Curitiba, Porto Alegre and Belo Horizonte you can walk in bus, car or bike
In Brasilia everything is next hotels.
The rest of brazil: Just car or bike.

For visit the amazon, you need a package tour to be safe and don't lost yourself inside the jungle.
